The Minnesota Twins were so-so last week

The Twins went 3-4 last week despite outscoring their opponents 29-26.  The pitching was solid again but the hitting was just a little bit off.  The Twins are now 14-11 which is good for 2nd place in the American League Central, 1.5 games behind the Cleveland Indians.

Jason Tyner playing well for the Minnesota Twins so far this season

With all of the injuries the Twins have suffered this season they needed someone to step up in the outfield, and Tyner has been that guy.  In 16 games this season, he is 13 for 43 (.302 avg, .728 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 3 RBIs and 3 stolen bases.  He’s done a great job for the Twins and he should continue to get a good amount of playing time for the Twins this season.

Josh Rabe in a funk with the Minnesota Twins

The Twins called outfielder Josh Rabe up from the minors after Rondell White was placed on the DL with the idea of giving Rabe most of the playing time.  Rabe hasn’t hit too well since he’s come up as he’s played in 6 games so far this season and he’s only 2 for 18 (.111 avg, .222 OPS) with 1 RBI.  With White nearing a return to the Twins Rabe is running out of time so he better start hitting soon or he will be back in AAA ball shortly.

The Minnesota Twins went 4-2 last week and they outscored their opponents 37-30.  Their pitching was a little bit shaky, but they hit the heck out of the baseball and that made up for the pitching.  They are now in first place in the American League Central with a 11-7 record, 1 game ahead of the Detroit Tigers.

Nick Punto gets off to a terrible start for the Minnesota Twins

Blogged under Front Page, In Need of a Slumpbuster, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Thursday 19 April 2007 at 10:16 pm

Nick Punto has played in 10 games so far this season and he’s only hitting .132 with a .425 OPS.  He’s only 5 for 38 this season with 5 runs scored and 1 RBI.  The Twins need more production out of 3B offensively, so Punto better get his butt into gear or it will be sitting on the bench.
