The Minnesota Twins sign a new left side of the infield
The Minnesota Twins have signed 3B Mike Lamb and SS Adam Everett. 32-year old lefty swinging Mike Lamb signed a 2-year, 6.6 million dollar contract with an option for 2010. Lamb played in 124 games last season for the Astros and he was 90 for 311 (.289 avg, .819 OPS) with 45 runs scored, 11 homers and 40 RBIs. He has now played in 844 games in his major league career and he is 681 for 2,421 (.281 avg, .766 OPS) with 358 runs scored, 68 homers and 313 RBIs. 30-year old righty swinging shortstop Adam Everett became available after his old team (Astros) acquired Miguel Tejada in a trade. Everett played in 66 games last season for the Astros and he was 51 for 220 (.232 avg, .599 OPS) with 18 runs scored, 2 homers, 15 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. Everett has now played in 649 games in his major league career and he is 531 for 2,145 (.248 avg, .656 OPS) with 257 runs scored, 35 homers, 214 RBIs and 59 stolen bases. Everett is one of the best defensive shortstops in the majors and he will have his work cut out for him playing next to Mike Lamb who is an awful defender at 3B.
