The Twins have placed starting shortstop Adam Everett on the 15-day disabled list with pain in his right shoulder. Everett has played in 25 games for the Twins this season and he is 14 for 74 (.189 avg, .559 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 1 homer and 7 RBIs. Starting 2B Brendan Harris will slide over to shortstop where the Twins will miss Everett’s defense. But, Harris is a much better hitter than Everett so it could even out. Harris has played in 41 games for the Twins this season and he is 37 for 145 (.255 avg, .676 OPS) with 21 runs scored, 2 homers and 11 RBIs. Alexi Casilla has been called up to replace Harris at 2B. All Casilla has done this season is go 5 for 18 (.278 avg, .833 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 1 homer and 6 RBIs in 7 games. The Twins won’t miss Everett much….if even at all.
