The Minnesota Twins have signed 27-year old lefty reliever Sean Henn to a minor league deal. Henn pitched in 4 games (0 starts) for the Padres last season and he was 0-0 with a 7.71 ERA and a 2.14 WHIP. Henn has now pitched in 40 games (5 starts) in his major league career and he is 2-6 with a 7.56 ERA and a 2.04 WHIP. This was not much of a signing by the Twins as Henn has allowed 84 hits and he has walked 52 batters in only 66.2 career innings in the bigs.

The Twins have signed 26-year old righty starting pitcher Bob Keppel to a minor league deal. Keppel pitched in 28 games (27 starts) in AAA-ball last year and he was 9-11 with a 5.99 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP. He has also pitched in 12 games (6 starts) in his major league career and he is 0-4 with a 6.10 ERA and a 1.80 WHIP. This was a signing for nothing more than organizational depth as Keppel just isn’t a good pitcher.

The Minnesota Twins sign R.A. Dickey

The Twins have signed 34-year old righty knuckleballer R.A. Dickey to a minor league deal. Dickey pitched in 32 games (14 starts) for the Mariners last season and he was 5-8 with a 5.21 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP. He has now pitched in 109 games (47 starts) in his major league career and he is 21-27 with 2 saves, a 5.57 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP. This was a signing basically for depth as Dickey won’t have much of a chance of making the Twins’ Opening Day pitching staff in 2009.
