If the Twins need a reliever soon they should call up 26-year old righty reliever Anthony Slama. Slama came into this season as the Twins’ #19 rated prospect heading into this season according to Baseball America. Slama has pitched in 13 games (0 starts) in AAA for the Twins so far this season and he is 0-0 with 6 saves, a 1.10 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP. He has only given up 6 hits in 16 1/3 innings in AAA while whiffing 20 batters as he has been nothing short of dominating in the minors so far this season. Slama has now pitched in 153 games (0 starts) in his four years in the minors for the Twins and he is 9-6 with 74 saves, a 1.80 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. He has only allowed 123 hits in 200 IP in the minors while whiffing 291 batters showing that he is way too good not to be with the Twins. The call for him could come literally any time now.
