The Twins have activated 27-year old lefty swinging CF Denard Span off the disabled list for tonight’s game. He has played in 56 games for the Twins so far this year and he is 68 for 231 (.294 avg, .746 OPS) with 32 runs scored, 2 homers, 15 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. Span missed quite a bit of time due to a concussion and he almost got dealt to the Nationals last weekend. But he’s still a Twin and that will make the fans happy. 23-year old rookie lefty swinging Ben Revere did a solid job in CF while Span was out of action. Revere has played in 68 games for the Twins so far this year and he is 63 for 250 (.252 avg, .592 OPS) with 34 runs scored, 0 homers, 15 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. Revere will now be a backup unless one of the Twins’ starting outfielders get injured.

32-year old RF/1B Michael Cuddyer will be the only representative of the Twins on the American League All-Star team. Cuddyer has played in 78 games for the Twins this year and he is 84 for 290 (.290 avg, .828 OPS) with 39 runs scored, 12 homers, 35 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. Cuddyer’s versatility is likely what got him onto the All-Star team because he might not be the most deserving player on the team.

23-year old lefty swinging outfielder Ben Revere has been a light in the darkness for the Twins in the outfield this year. The rookie has played in 43 games for the Twins so far this year and he is 40 for 147 (.272 avg, .627 OPS) with 18 runs scored, 0 homers, 9 RBIs and 10 stolen bases. Revere came into this year as the Twins’ #5 rated prospect coming into this season according to Baseball America. He is showing why so far this year as he has replaced the injured Denard Span at the top of the batting order. Revere has given the Twins some juice at the top of the batting order.

26-year old switch-hitting shortstop Alexi Casilla is red hot with the bat right now. In his last 21 games, Casilla is 26 for 74 (.351 avg) with 12 runs scored, 0 homers, 7 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. Casilla was hitting .184 coming into May 22nd of this year before his hot streak started and he was in danger of losing P.T. Casilla has played in 58 games overall this year for the Twins and he is 46 for 185 (.263 avg, .668 OPS) with 26 runs scored, 0 homers, 12 RBIs and 9 stolen bases. Casilla has now solidified his starting gig with the Twins due to his recent hot streak.

26-year old righty swinging 3B Danny Valencia burst onto the scene for the Twins in 2010 when he played in 50 games in which he was 93 for 299 (.311 avg, .799 OPS) with 30 runs scored, 7 homers, 40 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. He also got some key hits in the playoffs for the Twins last year. So far in 2011, Valencia isn’t sporting the sweet batting average of last year, but he is still producing a lot of runs. Valencia has played in 50 games for the Twins so far this year and he is 42 for 183 (.230 avg, .645 OPS) with 15 runs scored, 5 homers, 25 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Valencia is tied for the team lead in homers (5) and he’s second on the team in RBIs (25), so he has been productive despite the pretty much team wide slump at the plate this year.
